The Greek ice cream market is enjoying an upward trend this summer, fueled by soaring temperatures and a surge in tourism. Industry experts estimate that total sales could approach €300 million this year, highlighting the sector’s strong seasonality and its reliance on visitor spending.

According to market insiders, 25%–30% of ice cream consumption in Greece comes from bulk ice cream, 30%–40% from supermarket sales, and the remainder from small retail outlets and kiosks. Data from Circana shows that from January to May 2025, total sales value in organized retail increased by 6.6%, reaching €26.7 million, while sales volume rose 2.9%, totaling 6.59 million units.

Market players note that consumers are balancing inflationary pressures with their needs, often opting for more economical choices and larger packaging, which are driving demand. Despite rising raw material costs, particularly cocoa, ice cream remains an affordable treat for Greek consumers and continues to be a popular spontaneous purchase outside the home.
