Fake ELTA Delivery Texts Target Greek Consumers

Fake ELTA Delivery Texts Target Greek Consumers

Hellenic Shipping News

Greek consumers are being urged to remain vigilant after a surge

Greek consumers are being urged to remain vigilant after a surge of fraudulent text messages claiming that parcels from the Hellenic Post (ELTA) could not be delivered. Authorities warn recipients not to follow the instructions included in these messages, which are part of an ongoing phishing scam.

The suspicious SMS messages are typically sent from international phone numbers beginning with the +63 country code, corresponding to the Philippines — a clear red flag, as official ELTA communications would not originate from abroad. Nevertheless, some messages appear to come from numbers that look more legitimate, increasing the risk that unsuspecting recipients could be deceived.

The misleading message typically reads:

“ELTA: Parcel Delivery Notification

We attempted to deliver your parcel on January 29, 2026, but delivery failed because a signature was required.

To ensure successful delivery, please select one of the following options by January 31, 2026:

• Reschedule delivery

• Redirect the parcel to a nearby ELTA pickup point
