Company shares plans for green hydrogen scheme

As announced, the facility will be located near the old Scatsta Airport in Shetland, close to existing oil and gas infrastructure. The green ammonia produced will be used by a wide range of industries, including as a sustainable fuel for marine shipping and to decarbonise fertiliser production, and in doing so contribute to the UK’s industrial decarbonisation goals.

This kind of project, called the Shetland Hydrogen Project 2, will also help make use of extra renewable energy, like wind power, that the electricity grid can’t handle.
