The Rhenus Group has announced three key leadership appointments within its Air & Ocean division. The move aims to support the company’s global growth and sharpen its regional strategies.
Joachim Hanssen Steps In as CEO for Asia Pacific
Effective August 1, 2025, Joachim Hanssen has taken over as Chief Executive Officer for Asia Pacific (APAC). His new role also includes oversight of Greater China, Central Asia, and Turkey. Hanssen has spent more than 20 years with Rhenus and has played a major role in growing the company’s presence across Asia. His appointment is seen as a move to bring stronger alignment and growth to Rhenus’ operations in the region.
Alberto Martinez Named CEO for Europe
Starting October 1, 2025, Alberto Martinez will take on the role of CEO for Europe. He is currently the Vice President of Global Ocean Freight, where he has led the development of the company’s ocean freight strategy and strengthened partnerships with key carriers. Martinez will succeed Markus Lingohr, who is set to retire in 2026. A transition plan is already in motion.
Renee Toh to Lead Global Ocean Freight
Renee Toh will step into the role of Vice President Global Ocean Freight on September 25, 2025. She replaces Alberto Martinez. Toh brings over 20 years of experience in ocean freight and trade. Before joining Rhenus, she served as Head of Global Ocean Freight Procurement at CEVA Logistics. Her background includes driving procurement strategies and building strong relationships with carriers worldwide.
Focus on Agility and Regional Strength
In addition, the appointments reflect Rhenus Group’s broader strategy to build a more agile and integrated organization. The company wants to bring experienced leaders into key roles to stay ahead of global trade shifts and improve customer service.
“These appointments support our goal of becoming more regionally focused while staying globally connected,” said Jan Harnisch, Member of the Board, Air & Ocean. “We welcome Renee and congratulate Joachim and Alberto. Their combined experience will help drive our next phase of growth.”
Lastly, the new leaders are expected to bring sharper execution, better service delivery, and stronger partnerships across markets.
