Gulftainer signs MoU to explore dry port operations in Laos

Gulftainer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PTL Holding Company Limited to explore collaboration opportunities in operating major dry ports in the Lao PDR. The move supports Gulftainer’s global expansion strategy in logistics and inland port infrastructure.

The MoU aims to leverage Gulftainer’s expertise in port and logistics operations to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of PTL’s dry ports. It also supports Laos’ investment in Vung Ang Port and the development of logistics corridors and intermodal solutions to enhance regional and global trade connectivity.

Gulftainer Group CEO Farid Belbouab and PTL Holding Chairman and CEO Dr. Chanthone Sitthixay signed the agreement during a high-level ceremony in Sharjah. Senior officials from both countries attended the event, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Laos and the Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

“This step aligns with our strategy to expand in Southeast Asia and support regional trade,” said Belbouab. “We look forward to working with PTL Holding to develop Laos’ logistics infrastructure and strengthen connectivity across regional corridors.”

The signing took place during the Sharjah–Laos Roundtable Meeting and marks a new phase of cooperation between the UAE and Laos in logistics and trade development.
