Danaos expands orderbook with four new container ships
Danaos has announced the addition of four 5,300 TEU container ships to its current orderbook. These new vessels are scheduled for delivery throughout 2028 and 2029. This move signals a significant expansion for the non-operating ship owner.
The company did not officially reveal the specific shipyard for this project. However, industry reports indicate that Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding will construct the vessels. These ships will provide substantial capacity to the fleet upon their completion, according to DynaLiners.
This investment reflects a long-term strategy to modernize and grow the Danaos fleet. By securing these delivery slots, the company prepares for future demand in the mid-size container segment. Therefore, the addition strengthens the firm’s position within the global shipping market.
