MSC signs 45-year terminal deal at Snake Island Port

MSC has signed a 45-year sub-concession agreementwith Nigerdockto develop and operate a new container terminal at Snake Island Port.

The project will cover 30 hectaresand is expected to be completed by 2028. The terminal will feature a 910-meter quay, six ship-to-shore cranes, two ship berths, three barge berths, and a draft of up to 18 meters.

Expanding Port Capacity in Nigeria

According to NigerdockCEO Maher Jarmakani, the project marks a major step in the partnership with MSC and will help develop a world-class container terminalin Nigeria. The investment is also expected to support growth in the country’s maritime and logistics sector.

Strengthening MSC’s Presence in Africa

Diego Aponte, President of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, said the new terminal will improve service efficiency, create local jobs, and strengthen Snake Island Port’s role as a regional shipping hub.

Snake Island Portis an 85-hectare port facility operated by Nigerdockand includes three terminals that already support operations at the Lagos port complex.
