Evergreen approves order for six new ships
Taiwanese container carrier Evergreen has formally approved an order for six ultra-large container vessels, according to Dynaliners.
The newbuildings, each with a capacity of 24,000 TEU, will be constructed by South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean and will feature LNG dual-fuel propulsion.
The price per vessel is expected to range between USD 262 million and USD 295 million, underlining continued investment in high-capacity and more environmentally efficient tonnage.
The latest order will add to the company’s existing newbuilding programme, following a previous order placed in January for 23 vessels with a combined capacity of 90,900 TEU.
With this expansion, Evergreen continues to strengthen its fleet and position itself for future demand, while advancing efforts to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
