Summa Defence’s subsidiary Uudenkaupungin Työvene acquires Olkiluoto shipyard

Finland’s Summa Defence Plc’s subsidiary Uudenkaupungin Työvene acquired the Olkiluoto shipyard from Aslemetals Oy on June 12. The transaction includes the shipyard as well as all buildings and equipment on the property, according to a release issued by Summa Defence and confirmed by Työvene with a LinkedIn post.

As it is reported, the land lease agreement transfers with the purchase.

To remind, Työvene is a Finnish shipbuilding company, and a part of the Finnish defence and security technology group Summa Defence Group.

“This is an important investment in our shipyard business and significantly increases our newbuilding capacity while also enabling us to ramp up repair business operations. Olkiluoto, together with Summa Defence’s strong financial position, gives us the opportunity to grow our volume to a level that would not have been possible in our current facilities and with our own balance sheet.

“We will make significant investments in Olkiluoto’s facilities and equipment during the summer and early autumn, and production is intended to start already during this summer. Our Uusikaupunki shipyard will also be very busy in the coming
