Revolutionary Prismo Unveils Eco-Friendly Transit Solution

According too a recent announcement from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the new Prismo is set to join their lineup of rubber-tire Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) systems known as the Crystal Mover series.

This innovative battery-powered model features a cutting-edge energy management system developed in collaboration with Musashi Energy Solutions and Mitsubishi Electric Corp. It allows for fast charging at stations while also harnessing regenerative energy during operation.

MHI claims that this technology can lead to approximately a 10% reduction in energy consumption compared to conventional AGT systems. Additionally, since there’s no need for electrifying the guideway, maintenance costs are significantly lowered, and vehicles can continue operating even during power outages.

A unique aspect of the Prismo is its guide rail design; rather of being positioned on the sides, it runs beneath the center of each vehicle. This clever arrangement cuts down on the number of required guide rails by half, resulting in a more streamlined track that not only saves on construction expenses but also enhances visual appeal.

The manufacturing process will take place at MHI’s facility located in Mihara within Hiroshima prefecture, which proudly sources all its electricity from renewable resources like the Wadaoki solar power plant.
