Eco Innovators in Cargo: Celebrating Champions of Sustainability and Profitability
A recent publication by The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has unveiled the winners of the seventh Air cargo Sustainability Awards, which are conducted in collaboration with CHAMP Cargosystems, a prominent player in industry IT solutions. These awards celebrate remarkable companies and initiatives that strive to enhance sustainability within the air cargo sector. this year, entries were evaluated across two categories: Start-Up/Small Business and Corporate/Established Businesses.
The judging panel consisted of six influential figures in the industry who assessed submissions based on various factors such as societal impact,implementation feasibility,innovation level,and overall impressiveness.
Chris McDermott, CEO of CHAMP Cargosystems remarked on the notable biodiversity initiative at Ostend Bruges airport: “This program exemplifies how collaboration and community involvement can lead to significant environmental achievements. It highlights what’s possible when we blend creativity with a genuine commitment to our planet. Kudos to Ostend Bruges Airport!”
The airport’s biodiversity project stands out for its ability to engage local communities by collaborating with farmers, beekeepers, and government entities. This initiative not only benefits these stakeholders but also raises awareness about environmental issues throughout the area.Residents and visitors alike will have opportunities to witness restored habitats firsthand—demonstrating that wildlife conservation can harmoniously coexist alongside airport operations while fostering local pride in ecological diversity.

The official ceremony celebrating these achievements is set for June 24-26 during the Executive Summit 2025 in Hong Kong.
