According to recent figures, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) welcomed approximately 5.6 million travelers in May 2025, marking a modest rise of 1.8% from the same month last year.

In terms of cargo, FRA experienced a notable increase as well, with airfreight and airmail volumes climbing by 4.4% year-on-year to reach about 178,977 metric tons during this period. Additionally, aircraft movements saw an uptick of 5.7%, totaling around 42,255 takeoffs and landings; simultaneously occurring, the accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) also rose by the same percentage to nearly 2.6 million metric tons.

The Fraport Group’s global network of airports mirrored this upward trend in passenger traffic for May 2025. In Brazil’s Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA), passenger numbers skyrocketed by an amazing 132.3%, reaching over a million travelers—largely due to POA’s temporary closure last year caused by severe flooding disruptions.

Lima Airport (LIM) in Peru also saw growth with about 2.2 million passengers recorded for May—a rise of roughly 6.3% from the previous year’s count.

The Greek regional airports collectively noted a slight increase as well; they handled around three point seven million passengers—up by one percent overall this month. Meanwhile,Bulgaria’s coastal airports at Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) enjoyed notable growth with traffic up by twenty-four point one percent to total approximately two hundred twenty-two thousand travelers combined.

Around Turkey’s Antalya Airport (AYT), passenger numbers remained steady at about three point nine million without any noticeable change from last year’s statistics.

Cumulatively across all Fraport-managed airports worldwide, there was an overall increase in passenger traffic amounting to six percent compared to the previous year—bringing the total close to sixteen point eight million for May alone.
