FPS H Cegielski Secures Landmark Order for Electric Multiple Units
According to a recent declaration, the Lubuskie voivodship has granted a notable contract worth 245 million złoty to FPS H Cegielski, a manufacturer based in Poznań. This deal involves the delivery of six three-car Plus electric multiple-units.
This marks FPS’s inaugural order for electric multiple units (EMUs), as revealed on May 16. The new trains will stretch to 82 meters and can reach speeds up to 160 km/h. Each unit will accommodate around 180 passengers and come equipped with modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, CCTV for safety, dynamic facts displays for travelers, and accessible restrooms.
A significant portion of this project—127 million złoty—is being co-funded by the European Union through its European Funds for Lubuskie program covering the years from 2021 to 2027. The expected delivery date for these vehicles is set for December of 2029.
This isn’t FPS’s first venture into providing rolling stock; they have previously supplied two Plus electro-diesel bi-mode units to Lubuskie, with one having entered service last September.
“At FPS, we take pride in sourcing nearly all our components from Polish suppliers—this highlights the robustness of our local supply chains,” remarked Robert Kropiwnicki, Secretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets. He expressed enthusiasm about modern Polish EMUs serving passengers and emphasized that investments in new rolling stock are crucial after years of underinvestment in this area.
