This initiative aims to provide high-speed internet access that caters not only to crew members but also supports essential business operations.

Based in Hong Kong,Pacific Basin is focusing on improving interaction for both its crew and business needs as part of a broader strategy that emphasizes digitalization and fuel efficiency. the company operates a growing fleet of geared Handysize and Supramax bulk carriers,which are crucial for transporting dry bulk commodities around the globe.

NexusWave stands out due to its innovative network bonding technology. This system ensures that both crew and business applications maintain constant connectivity by dynamically adjusting traffic routes. with this service, Pacific Basin can expect uninterrupted audio and video conferencing capabilities between ships and shore while providing seafarers with an internet experience akin to what they would find at home.

The integration of unlimited data alongside the forthcoming ViaSat-3 network will bolster Pacific Basin’s digital change efforts well into the future while ensuring predictable costs. samar Das,who heads technical Procurement at Pacific Basin Shipping (HK) Ltd., expressed enthusiasm about being among the first in dry bulk shipping to adopt NexusWave. He emphasized that enhancing communication channels is vital for seafarers’ wellbeing, allowing them faster connections with family back home. Additionally,he noted how NexusWave aligns perfectly with their increasing reliance on digital tools across their fleet for improved decision-making processes.In practical tests conducted recently, this managed service demonstrated impressive performance metrics—achieving download speeds ranging from 330–340 megabits per second and upload speeds between 70–80 Mbps—while maintaining over 99.9% network availability aboard vessels.
