Lufthansa Cargo adds ITA Asia routes

Lufthansa Cargo is expanding its partnership with ITA Airways. Starting September 1, 2025, it will market belly cargo capacities on flights from Delhi, Tokyo-Haneda, and Bangkok to Rome-Fiumicino under its own AWB prefix.

This marks the next step in the growing cooperation between the two carriers. Lufthansa Cargo began marketing ITA Airways’ South America–Rome capacities earlier this year. The first shipments under that deal moved in June.

”The cooperation with ITA Airways got off to a successful start in June, and we are excited to take the next step together. Our newest hub in Rome is a particularly important addition to our network, enabling us to offer even faster and more reliable connections to Europe and worldwide,” stated Anand Kulkarni, Head of Global Markets, Lufthansa Cargo.

Additionally, pending regulatory approval, the collaboration is expected to expand to all of ITA’s continental and intercontinental routes. This would increase Lufthansa Cargo’s total belly capacity offer by nearly 20%.

Freight customers will gain access to a broader global network, connecting key economic hubs across Europe, Asia, and beyond. These new routes will be integrated into the Lufthansa Group’s existing cargo network.

This move strengthens both reach and flexibility for shippers looking to move goods efficiently between Asia and Europe.
