COSCO Shipping to launch weekly calls into Wellington

CentrePort Wellington announces that COSCO Shipping Lines will begin direct, weekly calls to Wellington as part of its ANE Service, starting mid-September 2025.
The ANE Service, which currently includes Auckland, Tauranga, and major Australian ports, will now expand its New Zealand coverage with the inclusion of CentrePort Wellington.
This development follows an earlier announcement from MSC in May 2025, confirming that its Noumea Service would also begin regular calls into Wellington from July 2025.
The enhanced ANE Service will deploy three vessels, offering a weekly direct westbound service from Auckland, Tauranga, and now Wellington to Melbourne, Bell Bay, and Sydney. The eastbound leg will continue to serve Auckland and Tauranga, now also calling directly into Wellington. Notably, transit times between ports will remain unchanged.
Andrew Locke, CentrePort General Manager for Commercial and CentreConnect, welcomed the news, syaing that both MSC’s Noumea Service and COSCO’s ANE Service will offer the customers greater flexibility and expand import and export options for Central New Zealand.
COSCO SHIPPING Lines also issued a statement confirming the strategic importance of the expansion nnoting that the ANE service has consistently improved frequency and reliability across the region, while, Wellington enhances the port coverage and strengthens the offering to customers.
