Port of Gulfport welcomes new gantry crane

The Port of Gulfport has received a new ship-to-shore gantry crane, a major step toward boosting trade and economic growth for the region.

Standing 300 feet tall and weighing 1,500 tons, the new crane is 75 feet taller than the port’s existing equipment and can handle vessels up to 19 containers wide.

“This crane marks a shift from decades of restoration to a future focused on growth, jobs, and opportunity,” said Port CEO Jon Nass.

Ports America CEO Matthew Leech called the delivery a milestone, highlighting the company’s commitment to investing in Gulfport’s infrastructure and workforce development.

The crane will be unloaded over the weekend before the vessel departs on Monday. Port operations will continue as normal during the process.
