China Classification Society delivers largest crane ship

China Classification Society (CCS) successfully delivered the “Chongqing Emergency 012”, the largest self-propelled crane ship in the upper Yangtze River. With an 800-ton lifting capacity, 75-meter boom height, and a 6.7° boom angle, the vessel sets new records for large-scale rescue and construction operations in the region.

Funded by China’s Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Emergency Management, the ship will support emergency response, bridge construction, waterway maintenance, and sunken vessel salvage. CCS’s Chongqing Branch supervised the full construction process, ensuring structural safety, reliability, and operational efficiency despite the river’s complex conditions.

The delivery fills a critical gap in the upper Yangtze, enhancing the National Water Rescue Chongqing Long-Distance Team’s capabilities and strengthening regional shipping infrastructure. CCS will continue providing inspection services to support safe, efficient, and green maritime operations on the Yangtze.
