Dynamic expansion of DryDel Shipping in the capesize market

Greek DryDel Shipping is expanding its capesize fleet through a newbuilding deal with a shipyard in Japan. DryDel Shipping, led by Costas Delaportas, shared a photo in the social media of the signing of the order of a 182,000-dwt capesize bulk carrier with Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

The Athens-based company revealed on December 18 that it has expanded its orderbook, with the bulker scheduled for delivery in 2029.

The Greek shipowner didn’t disclose any financial details about the order, but it said that this order marks the company’s fourth capesize newbuilding, following the third capesize agreed in July 2025 with Namura Shipbuilding.

Regarding some of the features of the newly ordered ship, it will have a capacity of 182,000-dwt and will also be scrubber-fitted with a Tier III / EEDI phase 3 compliant engine, making the ship more environmentally friendly.

With this addition, DryDel’s next-generation dry bulk vessels under construction now total eleven.
