First LNG bunkering at passenger terminal in Amsterdam

For the first time, liquefied natural gas has been bunkered at the Cruise Port Terminal in Amsterdam.
The luxury cruise ship Ilma, owned by The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, was fueled by FlexFueler 001, Titan Clean Fuels’ bunker vessel. The LNG bunkering was conducted via a ship-to-ship transfer, where LNG is pumped directly from one vessel to another.
Aligned with its Clean Shipping Vision, the Port of Amsterdam is committed to becoming a Multi-Fuel Port.
To reach this goal, the port is developing safety standards to facilitate the bunkering of alternative fuels, including hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, and LNG. LNG is a cleaner alternative to traditional marine fuels, producing lower emissions of particulate matter, NOx, and CO2.
This LNG bunkering marks another significant step toward transitioning to cleaner fuels for all types of vessels.
