PIL joins MACS to fight ocean plastic pollution

Pacific International Lines (PTE) Ltd is a founding member of the Maritime Association for Clean Seas (MACS), joining partners to reduce ocean plastic and operational waste. MACS is a collaborative alliance committed to measurable results.

Under PIL’s Future-Focused commitment, all vessels follow MARPOL and local regulations. The company installed water filtration systems on every ship and provided crew members with stainless steel water bottles to reduce plastic use.

The results speak for themselves: in 2024, PIL cut plastic waste by 17% and solid waste by 20% compared to 2023. A three-month 2024 trial collected 0.45 m³ of plastic for recycling from two vessels. PIL plans to expand this initiative across its fleet.

CEO Lars Kastrup said: “We are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint. MACS aligns perfectly with our Future-Focused commitment. Together, we can build a greener world for generations to come.”
