CMA CGM announces rate restoration initiative from Asia to Latin America

CMA CGM has announced the implementation of a Rate Restoration Initiative (RRI) for cargo moving from Asia to Latin America, effective 1 January 2026, based on the loading date.

The RRI will apply to shipments originating from all Asian ports, including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh, and destined for West Coast South America, East Coast South America, the Caribbean and Mexico.

According to the carrier, the initiative covers dry cargo, refrigerated containers, out-of-gauge cargo and paying empty containers.

The rate adjustment has been set at USD 1,000 per container and will apply until further notice, in line with CMA CGM’s tariff structure and applicable regulatory requirements.

CMA CGM said the RRI is intended to support the continued provision of reliable services across the Asia–Latin America trade lanes and advised customers to factor the adjustment into their shipment planning from the effective date.
